The project began with the demolition of an existing 2 storey building and construction is now underway on a 35 storey residential building.
Developed by private developer Landream, the new building has a number of construction challenges including a limited 500m2 (approx.) site footprint, adjoining buildings, central CBD location and constrained construction access. This has resulted in a non-typical construction methodology to enable the building to be constructed efficiently despite these challenges.
The pre-construction programme also had to reflect the required timings for applications, surveys and approvals from the relevant rail authorities as the building was located adjacent to the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop (MURL) tunnels under La Trobe Street.
The Codicote planning team were appointed by the main contractor during the tender process and our involvement continued through the pre-construction phase into the construction phase where we continue to provide programme management and monitoring assistance to the site team.
